Excerpt

Mike pushed the door closed with the kind of unhurried movement that reeked of confidence. He leaned back against the wood, crossing his arms over his chest. Quinn stepped forward, hat in one hand and a black gym bag in the other.

She frowned and glanced up at his face.

“A SEAL always keeps a bag handy. Mike and I have everything we need in here.” He dropped the bag at his feet, followed by his hat.

“Everything?” She guessed he meant more than a clean shirt and deodorant.

“For tonight anyway.” Quinn stalked forward, his body now so close she had to lift her chin high to meet his gaze. “Reality-check time. I’ll ask you again. Do you want this, Reagan? Because we’re not some pansy-ass Ken doll version of Doms.” He caught her wrists and drew them behind her back, holding them there with one hand.

Her pussy throbbed. She tested his hold, wanting, no, needing to struggle. He tightened his grip. Firm. Inescapable.

Quinn used his grip to push her up against him. “You’re caught, sweetness. And that’s just a preview of things to come. We’re gonna order you about, tie you up, eat your pussy till you’re begging us to let you come, say no because that’s the kind of bastards we are, then we’re gonna eat you up all over again.” He lifted his free hand and ran his thumb over her bottom lip. “I want to discover all the ways you light up when we bury our cocks inside that warm heaven between your legs. You’ll come when we say so and not before. Defy us and you’ll be punished. Still interested?”

Dominated. Tied. Theirs.

Her mouth opened but her voice refused to cooperate.

Mike pushed off the door. “We need the words, Reagan.”

“Y-yes.”

Quinn lessened his hold until her hands fell away to her sides. Somehow, the action left her…bereft.

“Strip,” Mike ordered.

“Here, in the hallway?” They had to be kidding.

Mike’s mouth pressed down in a harsh line. But it was his cold stare washing over her like an icy bath that made her gulp.

She hurried to remove her shirt and tank top. Her fingers struggled to get a grip, as if covered in woolen mittens. Why did the guys have to stand so close?

Dragging the tank top over her head, the easy-fit cotton now impersonated skin-tight spandex, hooking on her elbows until with one hard pull, she managed to lurch free. Sexy, Reagan. With her gaze lowered, she dropped the clothing at her feet.

Thank God for front-closing bras. Her breasts spilled out. Don’t think about all that pale skin. Just hurry. They’re waiting. The white cotton joined the rest of her clothing. After toeing off her sneakers, she pulled her panties down with her jeans.

The cool air wafted over her bare skin. She shivered. There she was, naked in front of Mike and Quinn. And yet, every part of her was alive with a slow burn that kindled from deep between her legs. She moved her gaze from Quinn’s boots to her chest. The hard points of her nipples stood like beacons, screaming her arousal.

Oh, heck, her breasts. She raised her arms.

“Hands by your sides, sugar.” Quinn’s deep voice cut in.

Lowering her hands was like refusing to swim even as the water closed over her head. Her fingers twitched. A tightness filled her belly. Standing there, like a horse on display, seemed so wrong. Shouldn’t she argue back?

“We’re going to push you, Reagan. Well beyond what you’re used to from a partner. In or out of bed.” Mike tilted his head. “Have you been with a Dom before?”

“No.” Only in her dreams. This reality was so much more.

Mike walked behind her.

She forced herself not to swivel around. Look ahead. Chin up.

A line of knuckles brushed against her butt cheek.

She started. Her breasts jiggled.

Mike’s chuckle singed her ears. “Easy, sub.”

She dragged her gaze up to Quinn’s face. The heat of his stare made her stomach muscles quiver, as if he’d twirled a feather over her belly button.

“Ever been tied up?” Mike’s hand curved over her hip.

“No.” Her face heated. It seemed so foreign and carnal, talking about bondage in such a matter-of-fact way.

“Spanked?”

“N-no.” She coughed past the shag pile carpet coating her throat. “I haven’t done anything, besides, you know, normal stuff.” Two lovers at college and an ex-boyfriend in Sheridan. All missionary men, and she wasn’t talking bibles.

This time Quinn chuckled. “We’re gonna open up a whole new world for you, sweetheart.”

About the Author

1468724_262786257210687_29124431_n

I live in the sunny environs of Sydney, Australia, and share a house with my dog, Letty. Oh, and the flock of cockatoos that take over the back yard each afternoon, demanding their feed of Arnott’s Milk Arrowroot Biscuits. Things get a little noisy around 3.00pm in our household.

My love of romance started back when I was twelve and my mum’s stash of Mills and Boon novels proved too much of a temptation. At fifteen, I decided the life of a romance writer was for me. Some…ah…years later, I’ve clawed together enough gumption to make my dream a reality.

When not sitting in front of the computer, I can be found in the garden or enthralled watching a murder mystery DVD. I limit myself to reading other authors’ work between writing my own stories. Books are my ‘shiny’ distractions.

Book Review: The Agreement (Unrestrained #1) by S.E. Lund

theagreement 3 Stars

BLURB:

“A letter to my sub:

You trust me completely to know what you need. And I do know what you need. I know what to whisper in your ear to make you need me even more. I know how to touch, where to touch, when to touch.

I know you.

You can relax completely with me. You can feel everything possible with me. You can respond with total abandon with me.

That is what I most desire.”

So begins an enticing letter from an anonymous Dominant to his new submissive.

While graduate student Kate McDermott waits in a Manhattan cafe to meet the Dom who will help with her research on BDSM, she reads the letter again, telling herself her interest is strictly academic. If she’s honest, Kate must admit it’s more than that – it’s a deeper need she can’t deny.

When Drake Morgan, MD, neurosurgeon, bass player, philanthropist walks through the cafe door to talk to her about the lifestyle, Kate is mortified. The son of her father’s oldest and best friend, Drake is far too desirable and too much a part of her social circle for comfort. If she decides to go through with this, can the carefully-worded agreement she draws up restrain their undeniable desire for each other?

Unable to resist his determined seduction, Kate begins an intense relationship with Drake that pushes all of her, and Drake’s, boundaries. Highly erotic, The Agreement is a love story that will stay with you long after you finish reading.

MY REVIEW:

I still haven’t been able to determine what I really feel about this book. I came into it with an expectation that a curious graduate student was interested in more than just researching the BDSM lifestyle, and more that she wanted her real curiosity quenched. Kate has a very interesting upbringing and some dark things that she tries to hide. When she sets a goal to enter the BDSM community using research as her catalyst, she never expected to run into someone so close to her societal circle.

Drake Morgan, MD is a very private guy, so when he agrees to help a grad student with her research on BDSM, he never expected it to be someone so close and someone he really wanted to meet. At the risk of his private life being exposed, Dr. Drake Morgan sets himself on a path that blurs the lines of Master and Submissive, but little does Kate know what she’s getting herself into.

Throughout this book I did struggle with how the D/s relationship evolved. As I’m used to more alpha doms and compliant subs, this D/s relationship was laughable to me. So here is where I’m up in the air. I’m still not sure if this lighthearted D/s relationship was what the author was going for or not. I picture Dr. Morgan as a complete hottie so I’m struggling to see how he was not able to take complete control. Then again Kate is this on again off again sub, who seems to want things her way….so instead of giving herself over completely I sort of felt this watered down D/s relationship. It was baffling that Dr. Morgan is supposed to be this awesome master, but I never really got a chance to experience that with him in this book.

Some scenes felt rushed and the secrets weren’t as deep as I was expecting but rather surface things that were brushed over once revealed. I really would have enjoyed more suspense around the past that Kate and Drake semi shared together. Now I’m not saying that this book was horrible, on average it was on alright book, there were just somethings that didn’t all the way click for me. I did get the second book in this series to see if perhaps more of the suspense in the story comes out and I get a chance to see the real Dominant Dr. Morgan.

Excited about a new trilogy…….

YES!!!!!!!!! I have another series that I’m really excited to start reading and that I’m hoping to add to my book boyfriend collection (Christian Grey, Gideon Cross, Jackson Rutledge (Jax), Jett Mayfield). LOL

Driven ((The Driven Trilogy)) Book #1 by K. Bromberg

Synopsis – Rylee Thomas is used to being in control. But she’s about to meet the one man that just might make her enjoy losing it… I am the exception to the rule. In a world full of willing women, I’m a challenge to the roguish and achingly handsome Colton Donavan. A man used to getting exactly what he wants in all aspects of life. He’s the reckless bad boy constantly skating that razor thin edge toward out of control, on and off of the track. Colton crashes into my life like a tornado: sapping my control, testing my vulnerabilities beyond their limits, and unintentionally penetrating the protective wall around my healing heart. Tearing apart the world I rebuilt so carefully with structure, predictability, and discipline. I can’t give him what he wants and he can’t give me what I need. But after a glimpse beneath his refined exterior into the dark secrets of his damaged soul, can I bring myself to walk away? Our sexual chemistry is undeniable. Our individual need for complete control is irrefutable. But when our worlds collide, is the chemistry enough to bring us together or will our untold secrets and battle of wills force us apart?

Fueled (The Driven Trilogy) Book #2 by K. Bromberg fueled.k.bromberg

Synopsis – What happens when the one person you never expected suddenly happens to be the one you’ll fight the hardest to keep?

Colton stole my heart. He wasn’t supposed to, and I sure as hell didn’t want him to, but he crashed into my life, ignited feelings within me that I thought had died forever, and fueled a passion that I never knew could exist.

Rylee fell out of that damn storage closet and into my life. Now I don’t think I’ll ever be the same. She’s seen glimpses of the darkness within me, and yet she’s still here. Still fighting for me. She is without a doubt the saint, and I am most definitely the sinner.

How is it the one thing neither of us wanted—neither of us anticipated that fateful night—has us fighting so hard to keep?

He steals my breath, stops my heart, and brings me back to life again all in a split second of time. But how can I love a man who won’t let me in? Who continually pushes me away to prevent me from seeing the damaged secrets in his past? My heart has fallen, but patience and forgiveness can only go so far.

How can I desire a woman who unnerves me, defies me, and forces me to see that in the deep, black abyss of my soul there’s someone worthy of her love? A place and person I swore I’d never be again. Her selfless heart and sexy body deserve so much more than I’ll ever be capable of giving her. I know I can’t be what she needs, so why can’t I just let her go?

We are driven by need and fueled with desire, but is that enough for us to crash into love?

Crashed (The Driven Trilogy) Book #3 by K. Bromberg  – is not out yet and so far there is no release date.

Let me know if you have read either one of these and what you think of it.

“Fifty Shades Trilogy” re-reading reflection

ImageOk, so I admit, I have read the “Fifty Shades trilogy” more than twice. So why is it that I want to read it again? I have a ton of books that I need to finish reading and even more to start but here I am again wanting to revisit the series that’s had many talking about it. So my question is…………….what is it about the Fifty Shades series that keeps us wanting to re-read it?

Though many may think it’s all about the sex, to me there was more to the story than what the surface entailed. Perhaps it’s because of my interest and studies in child a family law that had me reading more into the issues that troubled the relationship and how as adults we bring those things with us. Though our past both good and bad has shaped who we are today, we have also developed some strong personality traits because of it. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that the sexual scenes in the book weren’t interesting :-), what I am referencing to is that for some of us, it was more to the book then that. So if you care to share, please do.

Book Review: Locked (The Alpha Group #1) by Maya Cross

Book1_zpsefb952f74 Stars

When up and coming corporate Attorney Sophia Pearce goes out for a night on the town with her two favorite girls they end up in a hole in the wall bar that really wasn’t a normal stop in their rotation, but with alcohol flowing through their veins they decide to go on in anyway and have a few more drinks. The not so glamorous bar was just as they expected but “fun” was on the agenda for the night so the ladies settled in to have a few more drinks. As they sat there chatting it up and sipping drinks  the girls noticed the well-dressed guests entering the bar and then disappearing behind the guarded closed door in the back.  Sophia is a woman who is not immune to making rash decisions while under the influence of alcohol, so when her curiosity got the best of her, Sophia decided to infiltrate the secret party in the back to find out what was going on.

With her history of rash decisions while she’s out with her best friends, (possibly not the best decisions for an attorney) Sophia manages to maneuver herself to the back and finds herself meeting Sebastian Locke. Sebastian is the only one at the party who dares to speak with Sophia and she finds herself enthralled  with his magnetism, looks and mysteriousness.  While attempting the make her exist without being completely noticed as out of place at the party Sophia finds herself wandering a hallway and ends up in an office closet after she hears voices approaching.

While attempting to hide in the closet out of sight from those who just entered the office, Sophia become witness to a form of  punishment that’s beyond her understanding. As Sophia watches Sebastian from the closet, she attempts to shift her position and ends up making noise that gets her discovered and she bolts from the room running without looking back.

Sebastian being intrigued with the women who has caught his attention at the party finds her curiosity perplexing and uses his connections to better acquaint himself with her.  After arranging a few chance meetings with Sophia, Sebastian finally gets her to agree to a dinner with him and from there the story gets more interesting. Sophia finds herself in a relationship with Sebastian in which he begins to show her things about herself she didn’t know of.

Ok so I can go further into this novel but then I’ll spoil it for you. Overall I really enjoyed the first novel in this series as it was not only a little BDSM, dom/sub relationship but also action and mystery all in one.  Author Maya Cross did an excellent job in creating a strong sexual relationship between Sophia and Sebastian along with the mystery. I found myself drawn to Sebastian as the unanswered questions about his life and career were ever present. Sophia is a strong, feisty woman who can hold her own, but is she willing to give up control to an absolute stranger in exchange for the pleasure he is offering her? Sophia finds herself in an inner battle of emotions as she finds herself developing feelings for this stranger who seems to be keeping his emotions at a distance. The plot development was phenomenal as Cross began to really let us to know the main characters and what the were going through. There were some hot sexual encounters that will have you fanning, but the mystery was the nail in the coffin for me in this series. The novel ended on a cliffhanger and this is why I was so happy that I waited until all three books were out.
