“Fine. Bring me the damn suit,” I grumble begrudgingly.

“You’re the best! You know that?” Kara kisses me chastely. Her father is still there after all.

Bill laughs once Kara bolts up the stairs.

“Laugh now. Next thing you know she’ll make you be my elf!” I threaten good naturedly.

“I’d love to see that,” he says in between chuckles.

“Ah crap!” I pull my hands through my hair, seriously wanting to throw a child-sized temper tantrum at this turn of events.

“Think of it this way, son. It will be good practice for when you have kids. And you’re making those girls’ night.”

“Yeah… alright. I guess I can try to look on the bright side of things,” I concede. The last thing I need is for my soon to be father-in-law to think I’m a big baby.

Kara returns twenty minutes later with a giant red bag. I drag it into the bathroom and take my time changing. Part of me hopes that if I take too long the girls will fall asleep or something. Stranger things have happened.

“It’s Christmas Eve, Jacob. The girls won’t want to fall asleep regardless, so don’t think you can get out of this,” Kara calls through door.

How the hell does she do that? It’s worse than the eyes in the back of her head.

“I’ll be out in a minute,” I yell through the door.

After I velcro the giant pillow onto my belly, I turn to the side and stick my stomach out further, poking at my now enlarged gut. I roll my abdominal muscles making the pillow bounce and ripple. Chuckling at my nonsense, I step into the red, velvet pants. I pull the black suspenders over my shoulder and do a little jig watching as my stomach bounces around.

Apparently this suit sucks the seriousness out of you. Maybe it’s a magic suit…

I stop my musings and proceed to put the jacket on and button it up.

I look damn good in red. Even with a giant stomach.

Next comes the wig and beard, followed by the hat. Now I have absolutely no reason to walk out of this bathroom. Damn.

Opening the door, Kara is the first thing I see. Her face lights up and she graces me with a wide smile. She lifts her arm, and then she does the unthinkable when she snaps a picture with her cell phone.

“Lump of coal for you!” I shout and make like I’m going to attack her. When I lunge for her, she screeches and runs across the room.

Once I catch up with her, she reaches out and rubs red shit on my cheeks. “Really?” I ask not wanting to deal with this shit.

“You are so going to get lucky later,” she mumbles so only I can hear her.

“Damn straight. You owe me one creative session, Sunshine.”

“There is this new position I heard about that I’ve been curious to try.”

“It’s a good thing this suit is big, otherwise my sister would think Santa was a giant perv. What do you think you’re doing telling me that now?” I gripe, knowing my nieces can’t sit on my lap while I’m turned on.

“Sorry. I forget,” she says like that explains it all.

“You’re lucky I love you.” I kiss her forehead and start towards the stairs. “Let’s get this over with.”

Blog Tour: Author Interview of Merry Farmer

In Your Arms by Merry Farmer

Trulee V’s Spot Author Interview: Merry Farmer

Author Merry Farmer stopped by V’s Spot and of course I took the opportunity to ask her a few questions. Read below to learn more about her, as well as current and future projects.

1. Tell me how you came to love writing.

I think my love of writing was inborn.  I can’t remember a time when I didn’t love words and stories.  I started writing for fun and, frankly, as an escape from a pretty rotten childhood at a young age, when I was about ten.  It was my favorite entertainment and a great way to block out the world when it was being unfair.

2. What other jobs have you done while working to become an author?

I have an oh so exciting day job working in the insurance industry as an admin/analyst.  I am a master pencil-pusher!  But I’ve actually had a lot of jobs here and there.  I was a hairdresser for several years, and I worked as a teacher’s aide and special ed teacher for a while too.  I would love to teach again someday.

3. Tell me about your book.

In Your Arms is a story about belonging.  My heroine, Lily, is Native American, but was raised in the Carlisle Indian Industrial School and lost national identity.  She has become a teacher and a strong advocate for the rights of all children.  My hero, Christian, is the town justice of the peace.  He feels deeply responsible for the people of Cold Springs, Montana and works to promote their welfare.  Only, what Lily sees as helping people and what Christian sees as helping are two very different things.  Sparks fly when they go head-to-head!

4. What kind of research did you do for the book?

I did a lot of research for this book about the way that Native Americans were treated at the very end of the 19th century.  In Your Arms takes place in 1897.  This was long after the era of “Cowboys and Indians” and the struggle for the west.  By this point, the west was settled and well on its way to matching the economic and technological advances of the east, but the attitude toward Native Americans was still, sadly, backwards.  It was a bittersweet time period to research because so many things were surprisingly modern and progressive while so many other things were archaic.

5. What’s a typical working day like for you? When and where do you write?

I try to keep myself to a pretty strict schedule of writing.  I think you have to if you’re going to make a living at it.  I get up at 5:30am every morning and write for about 45 minutes before getting ready for the day job.  When I get home from work, I sit down and write for another hour or two in the evening.  I also try to get a few hours per day in on the weekends.  That includes “doing social media” too.  These days, maintaining your platform as an author is as important as the actual writing.  And don’t the bosses at my day job, but every now and then I get a bit of writing done in the slow periods at work.

6. What is the hardest part of writing for you?

Honestly, self-confidence.  I tend to be a naturally insecure and impatient person.  Always have been.  Yet here I am, following a dream that takes a LOT of self-confidence and self-motivation.  I have gotten to the point where I can write whether I want to or feel inspired or not, but I wallow in the misery of how badly I suck when I do!  I have to constantly remind myself that the first draft of anything is going to be terrible, the real writing is in editing and revising, and I am the harshest critic of my work.

7.What’s the best thing about being an author?

Hands down, it’s being able to share the stories and characters in my head with other people.  I have always loved sharing the things I’ve written with other people, because it’s like sharing the best of myself.  As a published author, I have the ability to do that on a huge scale.  There’s no better feeling.

8. What advice would you give writers?

When it comes to all of the publishing choices in the world right now, be sure you really, really know what you want to do and why before you commit to anything.  Both sides of the Self-Publishing/Traditional Publishing argument are very loud and will insist that their way is the only way and everyone else is foolish.  Don’t listen to that!  But do pay attention to what is involved in each kind of publishing.  I self-publish, but I will be the first to tell you that it’s not for everyone.  It is incredibly hard work (if you’re doing it right)!  It’s time-consuming, you have to be fiercely vigilant about the quality of your work, and you have to venture way, way outside of your comfort zone to market.  If you don’t feel up to the work, consider traditional publishing.

9. What question do you get asked the most, and how do you answer that question?

The question I get the most is “Why do you Self-Publish?”  My answer?  Because I enjoy the challenge.  Yeah, yeah, I know.  I’m crazy.  I’ve had writers and editors in the industry tell me my work is on par with the books being traditionally published and that I’m nuts to want to self-publish, but it’s the method of publishing that really sings to me.  I actually like working my fingers to the bone and striving to write at a professional level.  I like the challenge of formatting and finding the best cover designers and editors to work with.  I don’t like marketing, though.  It’s not in my nature.  But I do like working with my publicist, who is awesome!  I also have a yen to tell stories that the traditional publishing world isn’t ready to publish yet – stories with non-traditional characters and plotlines.  My Montana Romance series involves four full-length novels and three novellas (so far!), and the fourth full-length novel is an m/m romance.  No traditional publishing house would include an m/m romance in a mainstream series at this point in time.

10. What are you working on now?

I’ve been busy working on the second novella (fifth story overall) in my Montana Romance series, The Indomitable Eve.  The heroine is Eve deLaurant, sister of Amelia Quinlan (who is the heroine of the second novel in the series, Fool For Love), and the hero is none other than Rev. Mark Andrews, who has been a minor character in all of the novels of the series.  It was intended to be a holiday novella, but as I started writing it I realized the themes and issues involved (overcoming tragedy, being unable to reconcile with family after something horrible happens) are very heavy.  I’ll still be releasing it around Christmas, and the story takes place at Christmas, but I’m not calling it a “holiday” novella now.

11. Are you a morning or night person?

I’m DEFINITELY a morning person!  I get up at 5:30 every day.  “Sleeping in” for me is 7:00!  And I have a really hard time staying out past dark or staying awake after 9:30pm.  Most nights you’ll find me in bed before 9:00 with a book.

12. What are your favorite hobbies?

I used to say that writing was my hobby, but now it’s my career!  Nowadays I would say that my hobby is cricket.  Yes, the sport that they play practically everywhere else in the world except for the US!  I got involved with cricket in the Philadelphia area about four years ago and I love it with a passion.  I took a scoring course offered out of England and all I need to do to become an international-level cricket scorer is to take the exam.  I’m perfectly happy keeping my scoring talents with my team, though, the British Officers Cricket Club.  I love the guys of BOCC so much that, well, let’s just say when I start writing a certain series set in the Regency on the high seas by the end of next year, the crew of the ship involved may just look familiar to people who know the cricketers I know.

13. Do you prefer eBooks, paperbacks or hardcover?

I prefer eBooks.  I honestly do!  I know there is a strong element that says they will never trade in the feel of a paperback, but I love being able to hold my Kindle with one hand, to put it down without losing my place, and to buy books the moment the spirit moves me…which is a dangerous thing, now that I think about it!

14. List five adjectives to describe yourself.

Quirky, Brainy, Curious, Adventurous, Persistent

Title: Seven Sons
Author: Lili St. Germain
Genre: MC Romance/Erotica
Release Date: February 2014
Hosted by: Love Between the Sheets Promotions

Goodreads

Synopsis

My father was most certainly NOT an innocent man. As the President of the Gypsy Brothers MC, he was guilty of many things. But he died for a crime that he didn’t commit, framed by an enemy within who then stole his club and everything he had ever worked to protect.
Including my innocence.
When Dornan Ross framed my father, he set into motion a series of events that could never be undone. My father was murdered by Dornan Ross and his sons when I was fifteen years old.
Before my father died, Dornan and his sons stole my innocence and branded my skin, and in doing so, ensured that their lives would be prematurely cut short. That they would suffer.
I’ve just turned twenty-one, and I’m out for blood. I’m out for revenge.
But I didn’t expect to fall for Jase, the youngest brother in the club.
I didn’t expect that he would turn my world upside down, yank my heart out of my chest and ride away into the sunset with it.
Now, I’m faced with an impossible choice – Jase, or avenging my fathers death?

Excerpt

Tears form at the corner of my eyes as the full brunt of Dornan’s obsession with me becomes apparent. He left me here for this. He asked me who my ex-boyfriend was, and then proceeded to travel across the country to kidnap an innocent boy from his house. A boy who has never laid eyes on me, a boy who I found online and added to Sammi’s backstory for credibility.

A boy who kneels in front of me with a gun pointed at his head.

I struggle against Chad’s stronghold, but it is useless. The guy is built, and he’s probably been snorting the white powder with daddy all the way home.

I bite down on Chad’s hand and he pulls it away, yelling at me.

“He’s not my ex!” I scream, fighting against Chad’s rigid embrace.

Dornan looks at me like a man possessed. A man on a mission.

“I lied,” I gasp, still struggling. “I’ve never met him before. Please, just let him go.”

Dornan lowers his gun and looks me up and down. “You don’t have to be scared of him anymore,” he says. He lifts the gun, his finger putting pressure on the trigger.

“Please!” I scream.

My pleas go unheeded.

About Adrianne James

Growing up, Adrianne couldn’t get her hands on enough books to satisfy her need for the make believe. If she finished a novel and didn’t have a new one ready and waiting for her, she began to create her own tales of magic and wonder. Now, as an adult, books still make up majority of her free time, and now her tales get written down to be shared with the world.

During the day, Adrianne uses her camera to capture life’s stories for clients of all ages and at night, after her two children are tucked in bed; she devotes herself to her written work. Adrianne is living the life she always wanted, surrounded by art and beauty, the written word and a loving family.

As a young adult and new adult author, Adrianne James has plans to bring stories of growing characters, a little romance, and perhaps a little magic and mythology down the line for her readers to enjoy.

A woman who surrendered to love.
A man who would do anything to protect her.
Two lives that are about to be tested…and the last secrets laid bare.

MY REVIEW:

Ok, I have to admit this….I started reading TYL and things started coming up that I couldn’t remember so I had to go back and read CYL again. Yeah this happens when you read a series and then wait for the next book to come out. But TYL begins just about where its predecessor left off.

Jett and Brooke are back together but it’s still a secret as office politics would make their lives miserable if word got out. However, the story line takes several twists and unimaginable turns, which where totally unexpected. You want action……..yes it’s definitely jammed packed into this one and you will love every second reading it. Remember this secret society that’s like the sub plot of the storyline………well get ready for it to really surface………..DANTE………..that is all. With Dante, having one object of affection on his radar, Brooke’s life is even more in danger and Jett will do whatever it takes to keep his family safe.

In TYL, the author gave us a deeper look into Jett’s past life pre Brooke, and wow what a past he has. Jett’s past come back to haunt him as he is trying to protect Brooke’s future. Not only does he have to face his past in his present, which is something he never expected he had to do, but he has to do it in front of and with the feisty, stubborn woman who’s carrying his child. Terrified and thrilled to learn more about the man she loves, Brooke has no idea what Jett was into before her, only vague ideas, but what she finds herself in is the ride of her life, for her life.

Their love and trust is put through many grueling obstacles in this book and the loyalty of every one they come in contact is tested. Talk about secrets and scandals……whoa!!! Just when you think the author could not throw anything else in the mix, she does and thats why you won’t be able to put this book down!

I wasn’t to crazy about the ending, but hey I guess it had to end somehow. At least it wasn’t a cliffhanger, but it felt very much unfinished to me. Then the Epilogue gave me a little insight as to why………..this is not the last we will see of these characters. Thank you J.C. Reed for knowing we just couldn’t let Jett and Brooke go. There is still so much to explore with them and I’m looking forward to reading more.

October Reading Challenge Update

Reading Update:

Today is November 9, 2013.
I have read 50 books toward my goal of 60 for 2013. I’m behind but 1-Click is going to get me in trouble.

October was supposed to be the scary book month, but yup I’m a rebel so………. here is what I completed the month with.

Currently Reading:

I’ve been reading novel, after novel, after novel…..lol. However, here is what is occupying my spare time this week:

Aversion (Book One of The Mentalist Series) by Kenechi Udogu— For Gemma Green’s first time, things should have been straightforward. Find your subject, hold their gaze and push a thought into their head to save them from future disaster – Aversion complete.

The Boss  by Abigail Barnette— I downloaded it to my kindle to read later and 44% later I can’t put it down. What can I say!!!?? This book has caught my attention and has some surprising things happening that I just didn’t expect, but in a literary good way. SYNOPSIS:

Considering she’s a girl who calculates everything, Addie Battes knew the statistical probability of being abducted in her lifetime—too bad she never analyzed the odds of falling in love with her captor.

While stopping at a crowded rest area one summer night, seventeen-year-old Addie accidentally catches a truck hijacking in progress. Desperate to rid the crime of its only witness, one of the thieves kidnaps Addie. Yet surprisingly, when a renegade thief attempts to silence her for good, Addie is saved by the very man who abducted her. Now, forced on board a cargo ship in the middle of the ocean, Addie finds herself surrounded by international smugglers who want nothing more than to throw her overboard.

All except the artistic and intriguing Charlie Hays, whose strange protectiveness convinces Addie to trust him, even when common sense tells her otherwise. Yet, despite her doubt, and his unrelenting temper, their relationship develops into something much more. But, Charlie’s scorned colleague has stowed away, and as he seeks revenge against his coworker, Addie and Charlie are forced to put their new love—and lives—at risk.

MY REVIEW:

Addie Bates is a 17 year old girl who finds herself at a fuel station to grab coffee for her Dad and herself  after dropping her brother off at the military base. While standing in line she has a chance meeting with a mysterious guy (Charlie) after he whispered something over her shoulder about the book she was currently immersed in. Addie a little  taken aback, quickly felt flattered by the unexpected attention and thought that this mysterious guy was, in fact, pretty nice to look at though she couldn’t see his eyes hidden behind the dark shades. With their interaction cut short, Addie gets the coffee she came in for and heads to the exist only to realize that the main exists are a little congested thus forcing the impatient Addie to look for an alternative way out. Finding herself in the back of the fueling station where the trucks are, Addie hears a strange noise and decides to investigate, but what she came across would change her life drastically. In an attempt to flee unnoticed, Addie backs right into the hands of her kidnapper and despite her best efforts at self defense she is thrown into the back of a van.

I originally picked this book to read because the blurb did catch my attention with the indication of romance and kidnapping, so I was excited when I began reading this book. The first few pages were a breeze and then I found myself struggling for a little while to keep reading. I’m not sure if some of the content such as the age difference of both of the main characters or the notion that some of the things that transpired were a little difficult for me to believe were contributing factors but for a few chapters I really just wanted to put this one to the side and move on to my next book.   Despite this lull in reading I continued and I’m glad that I did.

To me the action didn’t pick up until later in the book and I found it much easier to read and very enjoyable. Yes, the romance between Addie and Charlie begins to build as she has come to terms with the fact that she has feelings for the guy who kidnapped her. Charlie as well begins to let her in on his feelings for her as well. But the action that took place on the ship was very enjoyable and downright page turning. This is where I felt the author could have spent more time developing the content and expanding on some of the things and situations that just seemed cut short. I just personally could believe more of a romance building from Charlie’s constant protection of Addie with more  interaction with danger from…………. (I will not give a spoiler) Charlie’s scorned colleague. :-) It’s hard for me to believe that a young inexperienced girl can fall in love with her kidnapper in a few short days. I can understand and believe there is a physical attraction but love………I’m not convinced.

Although I had a few content issues with the book and believe there are areas that need more development and/or explanation, in general it was a good read. The cover did lead me to believe that there would be a fair amount of naked play time between the two, but I was happy that there was no sexual encounters between Addie and Charlie mostly because of the age thing but also because I felt like something was missing in this growing romance. I am a bit curious to read the sequel to see if more content has been added to better develop the plot as well as the romance, and lets not forget the action scenes that should push and pull Addie and Charlie together.

Reading Update:

Today is October 28, 2013.
I have read 48 books toward my goal of 60 for 2013. Now I’m a few books behind. :-( But I should be back on track soon.

September, I had a lot going on with a new job, moving and lots of other stuff but here is what I completed the month with.

Currently Reading:

I’ve been reading novel, after novel, after novel…..lol. On average I think I’ve been reading at least three books at a time. But, I have happily recruited new readers for some of the series I have posted reviews on. However, here is what is occupying my spare time this week:

Wanted (Wanted Series Book 1) by Amanda Lance — A romance, suspense novel where a young girl stumbles upon and witnesses a crime and thus is kidnapped as a precaution. “Considering she’s a girl who calculates everything, Addie Battes knew the statistical probability of being abducted in her lifetime–too bad she never analyzed the odds of falling in love with her captor…”. Just started but so far it’s interesting.

SYNOPSIS:

“You are cordially invited…”

Four words that spark the fear of God into any gently bred, single southern woman.

When Savannah Guthry receives an invitation to her cousin’s wedding back home in Charleston, South Carolina, her first thoughts aren’t of flowers and dresses. Instead, she’s reminded of the groom: her first love and the reason she ended up at a college 500 miles away from home.

Determined to show up and dazzle not only her ex but her spoiled cousin too, Savannah allows her friends to set her up on a series of dates looking for Mr. Right. Wrapped up in her memories of the past and the drama of the present, Savannah doesn’t recognize a pattern in the seemingly random events that occur around her. There is a dangerous threat looming in the shadows, and if she’s not careful, she might lose more than Mr. Right.

**This book is a New Adult Romantic Suspense. It is intended for mature (18+) audiences due to sexual situations and mild language**

MY REVIEW:

Savannah Guthry was raised in South Carolina, with country clubs, debutants and a prim and proper ladies as her mother embedded in her head. But taking the first chance she got, Savannah moved to Tennessee for school to escape a broken heart and failed relationships, not to mention betrayal by a family member. After a day of class she comes home to find a letter awaiting her that reads “You are cordially invited…” in a microsecond all that she has been running from comes back in a flash. With no desire to go home, but also unable to escape the town gossip if she doesn’t, Savannah begins to think of a way to make the trip more bearable.

Putting a plan in motion, Savannah’s friends, Candace, and Sara decide its best to take a smoking hot date that will keep her company and get people off her back at home, but one issue with that is, Savannah hasn’t dated anyone since she’s been at her college. With only weeks till the wedding, how can she possibly find a date with the correct traits and looks her mother and home-town expects and convince him to come to a wedding with her.

With her friends setting her up on blind dates at the local bar they frequent, Savannah finds herself on unfamiliar grounds in the dating scene and in the company of one sexy new bartender Gage.

This book was a fun read for me. I loved the friendships that Candace, Sara and Savannah had and reminds me of some of my own friends. The dating game that they put her through was not only entertaining but very real when it comes to the dating scene and I was very happy with how well author Michele captured it. I was laughing hard at some of the dates she went on and the things that happened on them. Being a southern raised girl, Savannah, was so out of her element on theses dates, but her innocence in them was felt. Her upbringing of country clubs, debutantes and high society is something she hasn’t forgotten but is not as closely connected to as when she first came to college (she has spread her wings a little), but with the upcoming wedding, how can she face her past and show everyone including her mother that she has moved on and is not affected by it? Let along find a guy who fits the bill enough to take along?

As Savannah goes on her blind dates, they meet at the local bar so that she can be in a public atmosphere and feel a little more comfortable, but what she didn’t expect was the attention of a hot new bartender that just seems to push her in all the wrong and right ways. Even their interaction was funny and real. She finds herself beginning to like this guy, but caught up in her current dating frenzy and an approaching deadline, can she spare time to entertain her thoughts of him. Michele does a great job at building the romance, while keeping some of Savannah’s upbringing at the forefront, but what I didn’t anticipate was the twist she trough in the book that caught my attention all over again. I was a little disappointed when I was able to figure out Gage’s secrets way before they were revealed which was a let down, but I’m hoping there is more to explore of his story than what was revealed on the surface. I did feel like there were a few loose ends to certain scenes in the book that left me wondering what happened.  Michele did a really good job at making sure we felt the romance, not just sex like some books, which in turn gave us the right amount of anticipation to build this relationship upon.

I hate giving spoilers, so let me best describe things as this. Romance builds, suspense is heightened, past secrets not only come to the  surface but also must be faced, lives are threatened and truths come out. Overall it was a very enjoyable book and I look forward to reading the rest of the story, because I’m so certain that it doesn’t end there (hint, hint). The again there wasn’t an epilogue in the book, so my instincts tell me that I will be reading a sequel.  Add this to your TBR list as I recommend you should read it.

I received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

Book Review: Driven (The Driven Trilogy) Book #1 by K. Bromberg

5 STARSdriven.k.bromberg

SYNOPSIS:

Rylee Thomas is used to being in control. But she’s about to meet the one man that just might make her enjoy losing it… I am the exception to the rule. In a world full of willing women, I’m a challenge to the roguish and achingly handsome Colton Donavan. A man used to getting exactly what he wants in all aspects of life. He’s the reckless bad boy constantly skating that razor thin edge toward out of control, on and off of the track. Colton crashes into my life like a tornado: sapping my control, testing my vulnerabilities beyond their limits, and unintentionally penetrating the protective wall around my healing heart. Tearing apart the world I rebuilt so carefully with structure, predictability, and discipline. I can’t give him what he wants and he can’t give me what I need. But after a glimpse beneath his refined exterior into the dark secrets of his damaged soul, can I bring myself to walk away? Our sexual chemistry is undeniable. Our individual need for complete control is irrefutable. But when our worlds collide, is the chemistry enough to bring us together or will our untold secrets and battle of wills force us apart?

My REVIEW:

Dealing with issues of her past, Rylee Thomas has found an outlet and passion in her job at Corporate Cares, that keeps her very busy. Taking control of her life has been a refuge and a defense mechanism to her healing heart. Taking lead in a project to raise funding for the expansion of a group home for orphans in her care, Rylee’s charity date auction event seems to be going well, that is until she remembers that she has forgotten a few key items to the actual auction. Headed backstage to retrieve the missing items prior to the auction bidding Rylee finds herself in an uncomfortable situation; getting trapped in the storage closet, that has her in a state of panic. While doing her best to not overreact to the circumstances, but failing, Rylee finds herself in the arms of one handsome rescuer.

Playboy race car driver, Colton Donovan, comes to the rescue of Rylee and one look at her has him knowing he wants her. Challenged by the feisty woman who melts in his arms Colton sets in motion a series of events just to get what he wants, which is her. Not having any control over Rylee is what initially attracts him the most to her.  Her resistance is a new concept for him, and he just won’t accept that this sexy woman who responded so well to him in the heat of the moment, refuses to give him the time of day. Determined to do things his way and the only way he knows how, Colton won’t give up when Rylee blatantly rejects him along with his standing reputation as a world-class playboy, and manipulates his way into her personal life, work life and the lives of the boys in her care.

~”Hi Ace,” I say guardedly. “Since when did you add stalker to you repertoire of talents?”

He dashes me a lightening fast grin. “I’d be more than happy to show you my talents, Sweetheart.”

I roll my eyes at him. “Womanising is not talent.”~

~”Keep fighting me, Sweetheart. The feistier you are, the harder you make me.”~

Sighs contently…….I have added another book boyfriend to my list.

This book caught my attention from the beginning with the interesting way in which the characters meet and I wasn’t able to put it down after that. I loved the characters and most definitely enjoyed the feistiness of Rylee and her ability to say what was really on her mind. She was certainly going to make Colton work for what he wanted. Bromberg’s creativity and believability in this novel was absolutely riveting. Not only was it very easy to read, but I really fell in love with the characters and could feel and see the passion they had for that which they loved, (Rylee her orphan boys, and Colton racing). Between this passion and the passion they developed together Bromberg had me fanning myself at the intensity.

Both Rylee and Colton are fighting for control to protect themselves and their past from the vulnerabilities this union could expose. Though Rylee begins to open up in this novel, Colton has secrets so dark he refuses to have anything not on his terms. What I really loved about Rylee in this book is how she takes a stand for herself and her needs, as much as she wants Colton, she wont settle on her needs and that is something Colton wont give in to.

Everything about their relationship is so incredibly intense – the good, the bad, the sex, the drama.  I was hooked from the first page and the story line consumed me from start to finish. Though I was hot as fish grease at the cliffhanger at the end, but that was short lived because the second book was already out. YAY!!!!!!!

OH MY GOODNESS THIS BOOK IS…. AWESOME.  Grab your copy today.

Book Review: Dead Sexy by Paige Tyler

deadsexy

3.5 Stars

SYNOPSIS:

Can her love save him from a curse worse than death?

Romance author Simone Kent thinks she might just have found the most perfect guy in all of New York City – in bed and out.

But Drake Parrish is about as far from perfect as any man can get. Eight years ago, he was cursed by an evil Voodoo priestess to live part of his life as a zombie. Since then, he has lived like a recluse on New York’s Upper East Side, afraid to go out for fear he’ll suddenly turn into one of the walking dead.

The sex is the hottest either of them has ever experienced and Simone discovers just how naughty she can be with Drake, while he finds himself feeling things for Simone he hasn’t felt in a very long time. When the Voodoo priestess learns of their relationship, however, she comes after him again. She’s determined he won’t have a future with Simone, even if that means killing both him and the woman he loves.

MY REVIEW:

Well I was presently surprised that this book really caught my attention and kept me turning pages. I was really trying to figure out how zombies and romance can coexist but after reading this novel I’m not sure I could have been the heroine in it. That was really freaky!!!!!

Drake Parrish is cursed by a Voodoo priestess to live as a part time zombie thus putting a real halt to his playboy lifestyle. Drake now finds himself as a recluse for the next  few years, that is until one chance opportunity to meet with Author Simone Kent comes along and he can’t resist the author whose books he has come to enjoy.  Taking a huge risk of exposing himself, Drake makes the decision to meet up with the author who has seemed to intrigue him.

Simone Kent is a best selling author who finds herself in a bit of a sticky situation and looking for a solution when Drake Parrish comes highly recommended. Unsure about her decision to contact him, Simone is in a desperate place and chooses to do just that as she hasn’t been able to come up with a workable solution. Only problem is, no-one has ever physically met Drake Parrish and this has Simone questioning just how much he will be able to assist her restricted contact methods.  Finding working with Drake is easier than she thought it could be, Simone is now caught in a morass of images of what he could possibly look like and thus takes a chance and asks for a meeting.

Some of the story was a little hard for me to believe as it developed, but author Paige Tyler has a very creative imagination which kept me reading. This novel  has some very interesting action scenes and a whole lot of believable HOT sex.  Though I was unsure how the story would unfold with zombies and romance, I was surprisingly entertained as it was very different from most of the paranormal novels I’ve read. Not to mention I also felt like I was reading some of the Walking Dead TV Series scripts at certain points in the novel………but thats a tv series I absolutely love :-).

If you like paranormal and zombies, I will definitely recommend this novel as it has both creatively entwined to make a novel that will certainly keep you turning the pages and cringing at the same time.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP or Lovers of Paranormal)

Book Review: Breed of Envy (Book #2) by Lanie Jordan

breedofenvy4 Stars

SYNOPSIS:
Six months ago, Director Greene recruited me to the CGE to train to hunt demons.
Four months ago, I agreed to finish my first Phase in less than half the time.
Two months ago, I got bit by a vampire, almost died, and found out I have demon DNA.
Now… Demons aren’t the only thing I have to fight.

Because I’m changing, and that changes everything.

MY REVIEW:
This book is the sequel of Breed of Innocence and it is as good as the first one or maybe even better! Breed of Envy picks up from where Breed of Innocence leaves off allowing Jade and Linc to face new challenges. From budding love to demon hunts to demon empathy — their lives are definitely not boring. The two embark upon demon hunts which results in some interesting experiences an revelations. There’s a lot of drama going on – much like high school, that is very relatable. The pressure on Jade is so oppressive that she considers leaving the Center.

I loved how the author let us have insight into the personal aspects of the characters and experience their lives more in-depth. The main character/ heroine Jade keeps her guard up and doesn’t get all weak and dependable on Linc with whom she shares a confusing romantic relationship. Jade is a heroine that anyone can relate to and in this sequel she discovers her true identity and heritage. Without the benefit of a parental structure, Jade struggles with the basic teenage issues such as identity, relationships, and trust. And yet, she is strong, both physically and emotionally and is not afraid to speak and stand up for herself.

We also get to know Linc better in this novel and really get to see the characters being to support each other, yet are vulnerable and with some insecurity, yet mature enough to recognize their weaknesses. This book is consistent with the basic high school sarcasm and drama that is really believable and made this series very easy to read.

All in all a very thrilling and captivating read, the suspense of which will make you chomp on your lower lip in anticipation and fear and you’ll keep on turning the pages till you finish it. I furthermore enjoyed how author Lanie Jordan really expressed the ups and downs of relationships, dealing with issues and drama that most teenagers can relate to.

This is definitely a book i would recommend to my teenage nieces. I received a free ARC through LoP via Goodreads in exchange for an honest review.
