Listen, y’all. I love me a dominant, possessive, morally questionable mafia boss who operates under the philosophy of “What’s mine is MINE, and touching it is a death wish.” And baby, Dimitri understood the assignment! 👏🏽🔥
Gracie Monroe said, “Let me introduce you to a Pakhan,” and apparently, I said, “Well, don’t mind if I do!” Because here I am, four stars later, fully invested in a world where red flags aren’t warnings. They’re apparently decorative accessories. 🚩😂
Let’s talk about Dimitri, shall we?

Sir. SIRRRR.

This man doesn’t just walk into a room. He COMMANDS it. The dominance, the possessiveness, the dangerous energy, and that unmistakable touch-her-and-find-out mentality? Yes, please. I’ll take one fictional mafia boss with a side of questionable morals. Hold the judgment. 🤣

Dimitri is exactly the kind of character I expect when I pick up a mafia romance. He’s powerful, controlling, unapologetically dangerous, and accustomed to getting precisely what he wants.
And what does he want?
DANI.

Not tomorrow. Not eventually. Not after a reasonable courtship involving dinner, flowers, and a background check.
Nope. This man operates on an entirely different timetable, and apparently, patience was NOT included in his Pakhan starter package. But what I particularly enjoyed was that Dimitri recognized something in Dani long before she fully understood what she’d gotten herself into. He knew she belonged in his world, even when she was still trying to figure out how the hell she’d ended up there. And honestly? That made their dynamic even more entertaining.

Now, Dani, my good sis. Let’s have a conversation. 😂
First of all, I absolutely LOVED that Dani wasn’t walking around completely oblivious to what was happening.
When she dropped that Stockholm syndrome reference, I HOLLERED! Because GIRLLLLL! At least you recognize the potential psychological implications of your situation! 🤣👏🏽

Self-awareness is important, even when your common sense is fighting a losing battle against your attraction to a dangerous man. And let’s not pretend Dani wasn’t already a goner from the moment she laid eyes on Dimitri. Yes, her skills kicked in and ultimately saved his life. Yes, she was doing what needed to be done.

BUT BABY, SHE STILL HAD EYES! She knew exactly what kind of fine specimen of fictional danger was standing in front of her. What she didn’t fully understand was just how far this man was willing to go. And THAT, my friends, is where things get interesting. Because there’s recognizing that a man is dangerous, and then there’s discovering that the man you find attractive operates on an entirely different level of “I will rearrange the world if necessary.” Ma’am, you might want to buckle that seat belt. You’re not in Kansas anymore. 😂 But here’s what really made Dani work for me as a female lead. She wasn’t weak. She wasn’t helpless. And she certainly wasn’t interested in adopting a permanent victim mentality simply because she’d found herself entangled with a powerful mafia boss. Dani had a backbone, and I appreciated every bit of it! She stood her ground, questioned her circumstances, and found ways to navigate a world that wasn’t originally hers. And THAT is the kind of female character I enjoy reading about. Give me a woman who can acknowledge the danger, recognize her circumstances, and still maintain some sense of who she is. Was she immune to Dimitri’s charms? Absolutely NOT. Let’s not get carried away. 🤣 But she didn’t completely disappear into his shadow, either. What made their relationship particularly enjoyable was how naturally Dani seemed to fit into Dimitri’s world, despite not coming from it. She was the missing piece to a puzzle she didn’t even know existed.

And Dimitri? Oh, he knew. He knew WELL before she did. That contrast between his certainty and her gradual realization added another layer to their relationship that kept me entertained. Now, let’s discuss the chemistry, because we are NOT skipping over that part! 🔥 Listen. When you combine a dominant Pakhan who doesn’t understand the meaning of personal space with a strong-willed woman who isn’t afraid to challenge him, what exactly do you expect? A peaceful afternoon discussing the weather? PLEASE. 🤣

The attraction was there, the tension was there, and the relationship had that delicious push and pull that makes mafia romances so entertaining. I particularly enjoyed watching Dani navigate the reality of Dimitri’s world while simultaneously realizing that the man himself might be considerably more difficult to resist than she’d anticipated. Because there’s something about a fictional man who knows exactly what he wants and makes absolutely no apologies for pursuing it. In real life?
Sir, we’re calling somebody. Possibly several government agencies. In fiction? Turn the page, sis. I need to know what happens next! 📖😂

And before anyone comes for me, YES, I recognize the difference between fictional entertainment and acceptable real-life behavior. My degrees and common sense are still intact. We’re discussing BOOK BOYFRIENDS here, people. Let me enjoy my morally questionable fictional men in peace!

So, why four stars? Because I genuinely enjoyed this read! The character dynamics worked for me, Dani was a strong female lead, and Dimitri delivered the dominant mafia-boss energy I was looking for. I appreciated that Dani’s character wasn’t reduced to someone who simply needed saving. She had her own strengths, and those strengths contributed to the relationship rather than disappearing beneath Dimitri’s larger-than-life personality. I also enjoyed the progression of their connection and how Dani’s place in Dimitri’s world became increasingly apparent. The story kept me engaged, entertained, and invested enough that I am absolutely interested in continuing the series.

And that brings me to my next question…
WHY STOP AT ONE PAKHAN WHEN THERE ARE MORE TO EXPLORE?! 👀🤣

Listen, Gracie Monroe, you cannot introduce me to this world, give me Dimitri, and expect me to pack up my Kindle and go home like a responsible adult. Absolutely not. I’ve already mentally pulled up a chair, poured myself a drink, and prepared to investigate the remaining mafia men. For research purposes, obviously. Very important literary research. Don’t question my methods. 😂

My final verdict? ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Touch Her and Die delivered an entertaining mafia romance featuring a dominant, possessive Pakhan and a strong-willed woman who refused to let her circumstances completely define her.
Dimitri brought the danger, Dani brought the backbone, and their chemistry brought enough entertainment to keep me turning pages. Would I recommend it to readers who enjoy possessive mafia bosses, strong female characters, and romances where the male lead has absolutely NO intention of letting his woman go?

YES, MA’AM!
Just remember to leave your real-life relationship standards at the door. We are visiting Fictional Red Flag Headquarters, where the men are dangerous, the women have backbone, and apparently, the only acceptable response to a problem is to call the Pakhan. 🤣

Great job pulling me into this series, Gracie Monroe! I’m looking forward to seeing what the next book brings.
Because apparently, one dangerous Russian mafia boss wasn’t enough for my reading appetite.
And on that note, I’m off to mind my business.

Which, naturally, involves getting all up in somebody else’s fictional mafia business.
